Citrulline belongs to endogenous amino acids - that is, those that our the body is able to produce on its own. Plays an important role in the cycle ornithine (urea) - a process by which carbon dioxide and ammonia are added to ornithine to form l-citrulline, which is then converted into is for arginine. It can be produced in the liver, intestines, l-arginine (in approx. 10%) or l-glutamine (approximately 90%).
