Overview
USED FOR THE SHORT-TERM TREATMENT OF MILD TO MODERATE PAIN FROM VARIOUS CONDITIONS. IT IS ALSO USED TO DECREASE PAIN AND BLOOD LOSS FROM MENSTRUAL PERIODS
MEFENAMIC ACID WORKS BY BLOCKING THE EFFECT OF NATURAL CHEMICALS CALLED CYCLO-OXYGENASE (COX) ENZYMES. THESE ENZYMES HELP TO MAKE OTHER CHEMICALS IN THE BODY, CALLED PROSTAGLANDINS. SOME PROSTAGLANDINS ARE PRODUCED AT SITES OF INJURY OR DAMAGE, AND CAUSE PAIN AND INFLAMMATION. BY BLOCKING THE EFFECT OF COX ENZYMES, FEWER PROSTAGLANDINS ARE PRODUCED, WHICH MEANS PAIN AND INFLAMMATION ARE EASED. THEY CAN HELP TO RELIEVE:
SYMPTOMS OF INFLAMMATION, SUCH AS REDNESS AND SWELLING
PAIN AND DISCOMFORT CAUSED BY ARTHRITIS, MUSCULAR OR
RHEUMATIC DISORDERS
HEADACHE, MUSCLE ACHE OR TOOTHACHE
PAIN AFTER OPERATIONS, TRAUMA
CHILDBIRTH PAIN
